Yes this is the question which is troubling folks these days. After the heparin recall of 2008, this has been proved again that the agencies like FDA are failing to keep a track on the manufacturing units in the other countries. And countries like China, want to make good profits which may lead to the death of innocent people.

This is not about getting the facilities at a cheap rate which is attracting the major brands like Baxter to choose the offshore manufacturing units. The brands like Baxter need to understand that it is not only the supply of drugs but it is the utmost faith of the people which make their companies run. Heparin recall has shown the irresponsible behavior of the companies towards their customers and life in general. Though the heparin lawsuit is there to help people in protecting their legal rights however this comes after customers / clients have become the victim of the profit makers.

What can be done to avoid this kind of unfortunate events in future? Instead of trusting the offshore manufacturing units is it not better to trust the units which are in the U.S? And if there is a problem of the raw material then what kind of measures can be taken to avoid this kind of mishaps in future.
